In the Easter spirit, though it just has passed, here are two poems inspired by Alice in Wonderland and bunny holes of adventures:
But it is the journey and whom you meet,
That will make you feel complete
CG Art & Poetry/ Gjersvik, 2022, p.79, also available here “Success”
The first poem is written by me – which you’ll also find in my book. The second is written using ChatGPT – first of all just for fun, but I must say I’m impressed by the result #techfun.
Sleeping beauty
Oh, a sleeping beauty of some,
A sleeping beauty like the story told by mum.
.
If it was only so simple to come.
When I thought, I was going to bed,
My head decided to rhyme insteadβ¦.
.
.
.
If only sleep came easily,
With dreams of a castle and bee,
She thought queasily.
.
When sleep finally arrived and knocked her out,
Her dreams were all about,
Horror and terrifying news,
She didnβt lose her shoe at the ball,
She never experienced it at all.
.
Instead, her nightmare woke her,
And maybe the waves from the shore.
At least sheβs secure after all.
Breathing heavily, while tears are drained,
Has she gone completely insane?
No for reality hit her after all.
A quick dive down the rabbit whole of Alice in wonderland for an adventure to cure – the very ordinary of life, and again to dance through it all while still fighting a strife.
For who says you canβt dance through lifeβ¦.
Still fighting a strife
.
Sometimes a new perspective is all that you need,
For you to plant a new seed.
A seed to water and grow,
And let all your ideas flow.
.
.
In the story she goes after stories to tell,
Before the ring of the morning bell.
Thus, when all her thoughts were collected and written down,
Finally being able to go my regular walk once a week – slow progress is still progress. All the best!

Currently, I’m quite ill, which is why I canceled the book launch event until further notice and have been quieter in SoMe… Through a lot of doctors’ appointments checking me head to toe, I’ve been keeping my spirit and hopes up by ridiculous jokes – maybe you have followed on Instagram and you know, – a little on the dark side, but at least they’re funny (or I like to think so). In any case, we are working towards finding out whatever it is, but to my frustration, but also a blessing of quiet, words of poetry have been far away and my mind (disturbingly?) quiet – probably because the only things I do is pretty much sleeping way too much, doctors appointment and eating – then repeating. However, I’ve honestly also gone through a lot of emotions and when I had a day of a tiny bit more energy, the words came pouring out again.
Please read the poem and words with an open mind and do not take it so heavily to heart – my words helped me get out my emotions of being scared, feelings of helplessness, anger, and sadness, but I’m not dying and I’ll get back on my feet soon enough; however, it’s written from a very emotional perspective… Contrary, maybe someone else out there is experiencing something similar, or far worse (though I severely hope not) – someone unique who now may have a few words for their situation, emotions, experience, perspective, or however one would like to phrase it of trying to capture a part of life.
I hope my poem, and poems, may guide you, or wake something underneath – cause underneath it all, who are you at your core?
Fuck Life Sometimes
Fuck life sometimes, All these fucking climbs. Fuck the upper there, God, Allah, Universe, or whatnot, Their lessons and their plot. Fuck the journey when the destination blurs out, No light at the end of the tunnel in sight, Just yet another fight. How many fights before some light? Thank you for the lessons and hell, Sure, made me strong with stories to tell. Contrary, Iβm far too close to the ring of the church bells, My life feels like a jail cell. . No work, No workout, No walk, Almost no talk, Nor friends and fun, Projects on pause and life too, Yeah, this girl barely put on shoes. Bed rest with food, sleep, and repeat, Add in a range of doctors to find, Whatever is going on but digging deep in their mind. A special case of some, Theyβre not dumb, But finding the cause is far from close, Yeah, who the fuck knows? . So here I am, in bed to sleep and sleep some more, Itβs such a bore. Dreams of the life I had and of what I want, Itβs like life is all βa dream within a dreamβ, But what happens when the sand runs out, Yet another time I doubt. . High hopes for a living, Please be a little more forgiving. Hopes for the morning, sunshine, and light, But life is so far from bright. . Yet I climb, yet another time, And I rhyme, But it feels like my life is running out of time…

Healing your inner child, or doing inner-child work, has become a topic of increased popularity. Just search up #innerchild and #innerchildhealing on social media and youβll see. But what is it and what does it really mean?(Read more after my poem)
If you are to find,
Go within your mind.
.
The perspective you need,
Is found by taking the lead.
.
Taking the lead,
By planting a seed.
To water and love,
Then it will rise above.
.
The perspective you found,
Was being crowned.
.
So dear all kings and queens,
Self-love is all that it means.
.
For when you are fulfilled and whole,
You can share more than a soul.
Happiness is a bliss,
And I will say this:
Be the sunshine in life,
There is no need for a strife.
Share a smile,
And wear it with style!
Spread your wings,
And forget about all unimportant things.

You, yourself, and your inner child
Your inner child is the βtrue/original version of yourselfβ and can explain many patterns of behavior later in life. Healing your inner child is therefore all about connecting with yourself by recognizing and being aware of oneself, and maybe finding out how to meet your needs and/or change patterns of behavior today you donβt like/find favorable. This could be people-pleasing tendencies and a hard time saying βnoβ, seeking validation from others, overthinking, being highly critical of yourself or others, not being able to be alone or afraid of being yourself around others, and so much more.
How do you become better acquainted with yourself and your inner child?
By taking time for yourself and taking responsibility for your own wellbeing: thinking, reflecting, and taking actions. This could be done by:
Meditation/breathwork
Writing: a timeline of your life or a letter to yourself
Be honest about your patterns of behavior; reflect on possible explanations from your life and childhood (traumas, episodes?) – which needs werenβt met and/or are not met today? Which actions could you take to have these needs met today?
Talking with a professional therapist
Inner child work is not only about bringing up the past and your βnot so favorableβ behavioral patterns. More importantly, itβs about knowing yourself fully and truly to be happy in life.
No one is happy all the time, nor should we, for life needs balance, and to truly apricate the good, there must be some bad. However, in order to flourish and sincerely be happy in life, you must know yourself. Therefore, inner-child work is also about finding back to earlier hobbies and interests which gave you joy as a child. Maybe you could take up an old, loved hobby again? Drawing? Painting? Walking in nature? Playing football with friends just for fun? Do tricks with a ball? Reading? Photographing? Make a scrapbook or collage? Create music (DJ, play an instrument)? Or even try something new you always wanted to try, but havenβt yet?
Try to remember how you looked at that hobby as a child, and how you felt when doing it. Most likely youβll remember a mindset of having fun, being explorative and endless possibilities β not how your later teenager-self, and even later adult, became self-aware of the lack of skills, knowledge, or talent…..
When was the last time you did something just for fun? You donβt have to be good at everything, go do something just for the fun of it β take up that hobby you used to love so much and get to know yourself in the process.
Have fun β just fun, with no pressure of having to βaccomplishβ something. Youβre a terrible painter (or so you say)? Who cares, just have fun with the paint and brushes, or even better β just use your hands. Youβve always wanted to do cartwheels? Go to a park or make space in your living room, do cartwheels, or attempts of such, until youβre dizzy and laughing. If you loved playing with a ball, go juggling freestyle or ask a few friends if theyβre up for a round of football?
Point being is to take time to know yourself truly, heal, and have fun. Put your wellbeing as a priority and make time for joy in your life. Do more of the things making you happy, without thinking of accomplishment or “having to do something” in the sense you “must”. Try not to grow up so quickly while doing all #adulting things – be playful and let your inner child out. “I get to” play football with my friends, paint for an hour a week, read a book before bedtime… The process may be hard, but if you have kids of your own at this point in life, look at and to them – take in their perspective: Join their playing instead of just observing and ensuring safety; join at the trampoline, on their muddy adventures in the forest, during their cartwheel practice, when drawing and painting everywhere, in their videogames/PC/PlayStation and so on.
